About Us

Margie Keenan and Christine Barber are both native New Yorkers, teachers and best friends. Twenty years ago, they decided to create Summer Art Bunch. Combining their early childhood educational expertise, creativity, passion for teaching children and interest in the arts they launched Summer Art Bunch. This distinctive class is designed and taught solely by a team of experienced, certified early childhood educators.

Margie holds her Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education from Hunter College and her Bachelor in Social Work from NYU.  Prior to her seventeen years (and counting!) teaching at Park Avenue Christian Church Day School, Margie focused exclusively on teaching two to five year olds at other learning institutions including Brooklyn Montessori, and Union Theological.  In addition, Margie is a seasoned private tutor for children ranging from pre-schoolers to second grade.

Christine holds her Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education from Bank Street College and her Bachelor in Liberal Arts from CUNY.  She has been teaching at Park Avenue Christian Church Day School for twenty years (and counting!). Christine has extensive experience with all age groups. She currently teaches the threes program at The Park Children's Day School. She is the mother of three young children.

For Margie and Christine, Summer Art Bunch is more than just a summer class. It is a way for them to enable children to express themselves through the arts and learn about famous artists throughout history. A central tenet of Summer Art Bunch is to also use art as a channel to reinforce critical thinking and teamwork. All while having fun! Their goal is to maintain a tailored, high-quality experience using their exciting, imaginative and developmentally appropriate curriculum. They are proud to have inspired many young artists over the past nineteen years!
